This book is a compilation of essays published in the Sierra Sage magazine over the past 7 years. The essays have been reorganized according to subject for a more logical flow. As a result, comments and observations that are time related may not be currently relevant as they reflect prior periods. In addition, some issues and ideas may be repeated from one essay to the other, as subject matter may be either similar or overlapping. But such repetitions tend to reflect topics which are considered of utmost importance, such as repeal of the income tax, or dealing with illegal immigration, thus validating their importance.
I believe that we are living in the most critical period in our nation’s history since 1776. In my conversations with large numbers of citizens, including many Sierra Sage readers, I believe there is widespread agreement on this. The anger and passion exhibited at Tea Parties and Town Forums around the country are evidence of the frustration. The “Silent Majority” has found its voice - and its reason.
My purpose in pulling together these essays from the Sierra Sage is to give further voice to the sentiments so often expressed. A common and gratifying comment I hear from readers of the Sage is something like, “You write exactly what I think. Thank you for giving my thoughts a place in the public debate.”
It is time to spread the word; to widen the debate; to bring America back home to its founding principles and constitutional moorings. It is time to restore reason, justice and common sense.
